Newenden Cricket Club are pleased to announce the production of their 2020 Handbook. It can be viewed here Newenden CC Handbook 2020     

The following sessions will be taking place at the NCG in July :

Friday 10th July - Club training session - 6.00pm 
Sunday 12th July - Newenden 1st XI v Castle Hill - 1.30pm
Saturday 18th July - Newenden Development side v Benenden - 1.30pm
Sunday 19th July - Newenden 1st XI v Horsmonden - 1.30pm
Sunday 26th July - Newenden 1st XI v Chairman's XI - 1.30pm


Safety measures :


All changing facilities will be out of bounds
No teas will be served, players will bring their own
Each player will use personal hand sanitiser after every touch of the ball
Maximum of two men will sit on a bench at anyone time
Players will remain at least 1m apart at all times


Fortunately cricket is a sport that naturally practices social distancing and is non-contact.


We would ask that you send this message out to the village so everyone knows what the club have planned for the coming weeks.


We hope this is a positive demonstration of our commitment to improved club/village relations.

 Way back in the year 1300, 'Wardrobe Accounts' of King Edward I (King of England) include a reference to a game called "Creag" being played at Newenden by Prince Edward, who was aged 15 at the time.

There are suggestions that creag was the beginnings of cricket. Did the British sport of Cricket begin in Newenden?
