Things To Do in Newenden
The Rother provides coarse angling for members of The Rother Fishery Association, but day tickets are also available.
Go to church
There are plenty of public footpaths through Newenden and beyond, offering views, nature, exercise and relaxation. Why not take a stroll out to Castle Toll and see if you can work out its mysteries?
Play on the swings
There is a playground for the under-12s along Lossenham Lane. But adults can come and watch or have a picnic.
And there is Rother Rides, Guided eBike Tours through the Wealden and Romney Marsh countryside; mountain bike cycle hire also available. Located right in the middle of the village.
Watch the cricket
The King's Wardrobe paid for the Prince of Wales to play creag at Newenden in 1301 - and according to Wisden, this is the first mention of the game of cricket anywhere. If it was good enough for a king-to-be, it's good enough for you! Newenden Cricket Club plays at home many Sundays in the season - see separate page.
Wining and dining
Our own 16th-century inn, The White Hart is ready to welcome you with excellent home cooked food and fine cask ales.
It is not far to some of England's best vineyards. Chapel Down is in Smallhythe, near Tenterden, and Sandhurst Vineyards are almost next door, at Hoads Farm in Sandhurst. Just a little further is Carr Taylor Wines in Westfield and in the other direction, Biddenden Vineyards.
